This represents some 37,888 acres of land for sale in the state. The most expensive property listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $4 million, although the median price for land for sale in Iowa was $402,684. The average price of land for sale in Iowa was $502,080. There was 2,678 acres of sold land in Iowa recorded in May 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an 18 percent decrease in sales activity over the previous month. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $19.2 million. In its entirety, 55,857 square miles (99 percent) is made up of land, while the remaining 416 square miles is made up of water.
