With its dizzying elevation extreme of a mere 1,190 feet, pancake-flat Iowa's main outdoor attractions are of the horizontal persuasion. There were 6,843 acres of sold land in Iowa recorded in April 2019 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from the month before. Clarke, Davis, Lucas, and Madison County saw the most land sales recently in the state. In terms of size, Iowa is the country's 26th-largest state, covering an area of 56,276 square miles (36 million acres). As one the country's top ag-producing states, current uses of land for sale in Iowa include for hunting, fishing, agriculture, and residential use. Game species to be found on land for sale in Iowa include turkey, whitetail deer, pheasant, geese, ducks, quail, and dove. Fishermen have their choice of catfish, bass, walleye, and pike.
